The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 627 Once a Man Tastes Power, He Can't Let Go

Zachary calmly addressed the doubts lingering in the Remington family's minds.

"Back when Ms. Remington and Samuel were overseas, they hadn't encountered

the kind of power and benefits tied to the Sinclair Group here in Dithoria.

"So, of course, he never mentioned it or even thought about it. Over the past few

years, even though he built a decent career abroad, the truth is he never made it

big. Not compared to someone from the Holden Group, at least.

"Sure, he earned some money, but he was never truly powerful or influential

overseas. He lived a stable, comfortable life, thanks to Ms. Samantha and Sophia

quietly supporting him from back home. But instead of being grateful, he viewed it

the other way around.

"In his mind, Ms. Samantha and Sophia were doing well because they owed him,

so it was their responsibility to keep sending money.

"And on top of that, Ms. Remington comes from a fairly wealthy family, too. But

Samuel is a man, and once a man gets a taste of power, he doesn't let go easily.

"Now that he's planning to return to Dithoria and settle down, the Sinclair Group is

something he's determined to get into."

Zachary's voice remained cold and steady as he continued, "He targeted Sophia

because he wanted to discredit and tear her down. If she broke down emotionally

and couldn't continue managing Sinclair Group, she'd be forced to step down.

"Even though the company is currently being run by someone Mr. Holden

appointed, Samuel's trying to push Sophia into giving up the position voluntarily."

"That's disgusting, absolutely vile," Samantha said, her face pale with anger.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but her eyes still reddened with

unshed tears. "How did I raise such an ungrateful son? Sophia is his sister. How

could he be so cruel?"

"Don't cry, Mom," Sierra said softly, gently holding Samantha's hand. "I'm not like

Samuel. I'll always be on Sophia's side. Let's go ahead and invite Mr. Holden and

Ms. Walker. There are some things I'd like to say to Ms. Walker, too."

"Alright. I'll handle it," Jonathan said.

He had a personal connection with Marcus, and he was confident Marcus

wouldn't turn him down.

Sierra smiled and leaned in playfully. "Thanks, Dad."

Jonathan pulled out his phone and called Marcus. The call connected quickly.

"Hello, Mr. Holden!" Jonathan greeted him with a cheerful chuckle.

"My wife and I are here in Dithoria for your wedding with Ms. Walker. We'd love to

invite you and Ms. Walker out for a meal-well, I guess I should be calling her

Mrs. Holden now."noveldrama

"Mr. Remington, it should be us inviting you and Mrs. Remington," Marcus replied,

This deep, steady voice coming through the line. I've been tied up with all the

wedding arrangements with Natalie the past few days and haven't had a chance

to visit you and Mrs. Remington yet. But it's not too late."

He added, "Mr. Remington, just let me know what works for you, and I'll host a

gathering. I'd also love for you to meet my mother."

"Are you free now? We're free at the moment," Jonathan said.

"Sure."

Marcus and Natalie had already finished their outdoor photoshoot for the day. All

that remained was to change out of their outfits, and they'd be done.

"Just send me the address," Marcus said. "I'll swing by to pick up my mom, and

we'll head over shortly."

"Alright, no rush. Drive safe, take your time," Jonathan said before hanging up.

Then he sent Marcus the location of The Walker Hotel.

"All set. Mr. Holden and Ms. Walker will be coming over soon with his mother," he

said with a smile.

He reached out and gave Sierra's hand a reassuring pat. "Sweetie, don't worry. I

once saved Mr. Holden's life, so he won't turn me down as long as I don't ask for

anything too outrageous."

"Dad, I'm not trying to use that to get anything out of him. The three of us already

have enough money to live comfortably for two lifetimes.

"I'm not super capable, and I can't manage a big business. I'd rather just sell off

the assets, buy a few properties, and live off the rent."

Sierra wasn't ambitious. She understood her limits, and she was perfectly

with that. What mattered most to her was a peaceful, stable life.

"That works too," Melissa said, joining in from the side.

"Running a company is exhausting.

It's all stress and mental strain.

Being a landlord is way easier. Rent

comes in every month, and you don't

even have to leave the house to

make money. Sounds good to me."

"Exactly. Being a landlord is the way to go. Plus, you can pass it down to the kids

someday."

As they continued chatting, smiles spread across their faces, and the mood

quickly lightened.

"Sophia, you go ahead and order," Zachary said, handing her the tablet menu.

Sophia passed it immediately to Sierra. "Cee, you order."

"Let the moms handle it," Sierra said with a smile, handing the tablet to Samantha

and Melissa. "I haven't had food from Dithoria in so long, I'm craving it."

"Alright, we'll take care of it," Samantha said, accepting the tablet. "Melissa, is

there anything you like in particular?"

Melissa, who had spent years in a

nursing home, was used to eating

lighter meals, but she wasn't picky.

"You go ahead and choose,

Samantha. Jon and I eat pretty

much everything."

"No, we're each picking ten dishes," Samantha teased, linking arms with Melissa

as the two leaned in to browse the menu together.

About half an hour after they finished ordering, Marcus arrived with Natalie and

Laura.

"Mr. and Mrs. Remington, Ms. Remington, Ms. Samantha, Mr. Holt, Sophia,"

Marcus greeted everyone politely, stepping forward with Natalie and Laura.

"Come sit down," Jonathan said warmly, pulling out a chair for Marcus. "Mr.

Holden, congratulations to you and Ms. Walker."

"Thank you, Mr. Remington. Let me introduce you this is my mother, Laura

Reed," Marcus said, gesturing to Laura.

"Mom, this is Mr. Remington. Back when we were in Amberton, it was thanks to

him that I was able to find and send you the medicine you needed."

"Mr. Holden, you're being too polite. You're the one who helped us find our

daughter. Compared to that, what you've done for us means far more," Jonathan

said sincerely.

He extended a hand toward Laura.

"Mrs. Holden, it's nice to meet you.

I'm Jonathan Remington. If you

don't mind, just call me Jonathan

My wife and I had our daughterlater

in life, so we're quite a bit older than

you."

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Jonathan. You can just call me Laura," she

replied, shaking his hand before turning to greet Melissa as well.

As for Samantha, the two had already met at past social events, so they were

familiar with each other.

Everyone exchanged greetings, and before long, the food began to arrive.

No one brought up business, instead, the conversation stayed light, filled with well

wishes for Marcus and Natalie.

With their wedding just around the corner, both had taken time off work to simply

enjoy each other's company. Things no longer felt rushed or stressful.

Throughout the meal, the group laughed and chatted freely. No one mentioned

Samuel's name. It was, after all, an unpleasant subject.

It was a joyful, relaxed meal, and the warm atmosphere brought everyone closer

together. By the time the meal ended, Zachary had already settled the bill in

advance.

As the group stepped out of the restaurant, Laura suggested taking a walk with

Jonathan and the others. Marcus thought for a moment, then offered to guide

everyone himself.

They strolled through the streets of Dithoria State, letting the evening breeze

wash over them. It was one of those rare moments of peace, where everything felt

calm and content.
