Chapter 632 The Gathering Before the Wedding
"I'll get back to work now, Ms. Laura," Sheldon said before he turned around and left.
Watching Sheldon's departing figure, Laura remained standing on the spot for a long time.
After a while, she finally turned around and walked back into the villa. As soon as she entered, she saw Noah assigning tasks to the helpers.
She walked toward him and said, "Noah, can you arrange a driver and a car for me? I'd like to pick Wesley up from work."
"Yes, Ms. Laura."
Noah quickly made the arrangements for the driver and car. Soon, Laura entered the car.
Once the car pulled out of Holden Residence, Laura rolled down the window and watched the scenery pass by in reverse. Time had flown by quickly.
In the blink of an eye, she had left this place for over 20 years. Now that she was back, so many things had changed. But at the same time, nothing had really changed.
Everything in the world would change with time. Could things between her and Wesley really return to how they once were?
Sheldon had advised her not to leave room for regret. She loved Wesley, and Wesley loved her. Throughout her years of being ill, Wesley had never left her side. He had even given up their sex life for her.
How many men could go without intimacy for so many years?
So, shouldn't she have a little more faith in herself, and also in Wesley?
Cassie was gone and might never return. Couldn't their love for each other overpower their fear of Cassie?
Moreover, her son had grown up. He even married a strong woman with five brothers. If Cassie dared to stir up trouble, there was no way she could take on all of them alone.
So, should Laura take that step forward?
Throughout the entire ride, Laura's mind was a mess. It wasn't until the car stopped in front of the Holden Group building that the driver's voice pulled her back to reality.
"We've arrived, ma'am. Noah instructed me to escort you upstairs," the driver said as he opened the door for her.
"That won't be necessary. I've been here before. I can find my way up." Laura stepped out of the car and stared at the Holden Group building.
Coming here at this hour, would it be a pleasant surprise for Wesley, or would he be startled?
Laura took a deep breath and decided to be bold for once. She stepped forward and slowly walked into the building.
Meanwhile, back at Holden Residence, Natalie and Marcus had just finished freshening up when she received a call from Timothy.
"Hello, Nat. Are you asleep yet?"
"I just finished getting ready for bed," Natalie replied. "What's up, Timothy?"
She put her phone on speaker and placed it on the bedside table. She then grabbed her tablet, intending to check her emails before sleeping.
"It's like this. Celeste organized a little gathering for you. She said that even though you and Marcus have gotten your marriage certificate, you haven't had the wedding yet.
"So, she thought it'd be nice to have some fun before the wedding. She wanted to hold a gathering for everyone to come together."
In reality, Timothy wasn't pleased with Marcus' decision to register their marriage without consulting her parents and brothers.
However, since Natalie was happy with the decision, her brothers could only respect and support her.
"Nat, will you come?" he asked.
Natalie thought for a moment before glancing at Marcus, who was walking over in his pajamas. "Sure! Can I bring Marcus along?"
"No," Timothy said firmly. "Nat, this is a siblings-only gathering. Don't bring him over. After the wedding, we'll include him."
"Alright." Natalie chuckled. "Then just send me the time and location. I'll come over."
"I'll come pick you up. I've canceled all of my tournaments and training before your wedding. The last time you came home, I was too busy to fulfill my role as your elder brother. Now that the others are busy and that I have the time, you have to let me make up for it," Timothy said.
"Timothy, don't say that. All of you have always treated me well. I'm really grateful
that all of you love me and cherish me," Natalie replied.
"There's no need to say all that, dummy. I'll come over now. Celeste and the
others have everything set up."
"Alright, I'll go get changed now."
Natalie hung up. When she turned around, she noticed the displeasure on Marcus' face. However, he didn't say anything and just stepped forward to pull her into his arms.
"Nat, you can go by yourself. I'm fine." Marcus' tone was muffled and slightly
unhappy. "Don't worry about me. I'll be good and stay home."
Even though he said that, his arms around Natalie tightened.
"Marcus, I can't breathe." Natalie nudged him. "I know you're jealous, but not now. Timothy is coming over to pick me up. I need to change."
"Nat, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be so petty." After releasing her, he added, "I'll help you pick out an outfit."
"Sure. Let's go to the closet," Natalie said with a smile. She pulled Marcus toward the walk-in closet.
He kept a straight face and chose an outfit for her. It was a black outdoor jacket and sweatpants.
"Wear this," Marcus said.
Natalie was stunned. "Marcus, do you want me to wear my old style again?"
"This looks good on you," he replied seriously. He stepped forward and handed her the outfit.
Natalie wanted to laugh but held it in. She took the clothes and said, "Alright. I'll wear it."
"Thank you, Nat." Marcus visibly relaxed. "Nat, I'm not jealous, really. I just don't want to be apart from you."
"Our wedding is just around the corner. After that, we'll always be together," Natalie replied. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed the corner of his lips. "I'll come home soon. Just trust me, okay?"
"Nat, I always trust you." Marcus hugged her tightly. "I never imagined I'd be this
clingy."noveldrama
His honest answer left Natalie speechless for a moment. "Okay. I'll tell Timothy to let you join next time."
"Thank you, my sweet wife." Even though they had registered their marriage for quite some time, this was the first time he had called her his wife that naturally.
This caught Natalie off guard and made her shy.
"Go enjoy your gathering." Marcus planted a kiss on her forehead. "Once you're done, call me. I'll come pick you up."
"Okay, I will. Rest early, okay?"
"I'll walk you downstairs."
Marcus held her hand as they made their way downstairs. As they reached the
ground floor, they heard Noah and Timothy chatting.
Marcus smirked. Timothy sure got here fast.
What do you think?
