too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian)

Chapter 415

Lila tilted her head and looked over. She found it strange. "Who is that?"

Kieran glanced at the man. "He should be here for Jasmine." It seemed that he didn't know the man either.

Lila couldn't be bothered to look into it more. She shifted her attention back. "After the New Year, when it's warmer, we'll go and see the stars." She smiled, but she was counting the time. She hoped that they were still together by then.

It was cold in the courtyard, so they didn't stay there for too long. When it was about time to go to bed, Lila remembered that she had left something in the car.

"I'll go and get it."

"No need." Lila chuckled before getting out of the bed nimbly. "Wait here. I'm a quick runner."

As Kieran found her reason funny, he laughed and shook his head helplessly. He didn't insist on getting it for her.

Lila put on a puffer jacket. Nonetheless, she still shivered upon exiting the house because of the cold wind. When she went back to grab something, she heard Jasmine's shout from the side of the house.

"Get out!"

Upon hearing that, Lila stopped in her tracks. After hesitating for a while, she walked over.

"James, from now on, you have no connection with the Lloyd family. You should stop coming to see me."noveldrama

Jasmine's voice was extremely cold. When Lila heard that, she was confused. She couldn't help but clench the item in her hand.

James? Lila had heard that name before. A while later, the tall and burly man exited the house. When he noticed Lila, he raised his head and looked at her.

His hair was a bit long. With a mask covering his face, only his eyes were visible. There was a scar on his left eye, which made him look fierce.

Lila stiffened and stopped in her tracks. She reached out to lean on the wall. She felt weak in her knees. She was certain she had seen that pair of eyes before.

The fear she felt didn't come from nowhere. She wanted to leave, but before she could, Jasmine walked out.

"Lila?" Jasmine looked at Lila and called out to her.

Lila turned around stiffly, trying her best to calm down. "Aunt Jasmine, who was that just now?"

Jasmine walked over and touched her hands. "Why are your hands so cold?"

Then, she chuckled. "That person? Don't worry about it. He's a relative of the Lloyd family. Since your uncle passed away, he has been eyeing Bryce's and my businesses. He would cause a commotion every year."

Lila lowered her gaze as her thoughts trailed off. She seemed to have seen that pair of eyes with a scar mmany years ago. However, the man didn't have a scar back then.

Her thoughts were chaotic. No matter how, she couldn't link the matters together.

"Lila?" Jasmine called Lila twice before the latter returned to her senses. She held Lila's hands. "Why do you look distracted?"

"I haven't been sleeping well recently."

Jasmine didn't ask further questions. She took the item in Lila's hands. "We should head back. It's cold outside."

Lila nodded and went back to the room with her. "I'll head up and rest. You should rest early too."

She wished Jasmine good night before going upstairs. At this time, Kieran was about to head downstairs to look for Lila because she wasn't back when he heard the door open.

Lila had already regained her composure. "Why are you still awake?"

"I was waiting for you."

Kieran helped Lila take off her jacket and carried her onto the bed. "There may be many guests coming tomorrow morning. Why don't I take you to Hilltop Heights?"
