Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 830

Chapter 830:

She would take Joy. Leave this place. Leave Eric. And finally… start over.

“Please, don’t say no,” Eric murmured, his arms wrapped around her in a gentle sway. He held her close, his voice soft. “I’ll call Ernest to handle everything with Elissa. Alright? You trust him, don’t you?”

“Yes,” Hadley answered with a quiet smile. “Alright.”

“You mean it?” Eric lit up, overjoyed. “That’s great!”

He kissed her, quick and tender, and then tugged her forward. “Go change, and then we’ll head home.”

As they walked, he kept talking, light and affectionate.

“Fiona made your favorite soup—be sure to have plenty when we get back. I’ll wash your hair for you tonight, run a bath. Then we’ll cuddle and watch your favorite shows. Sound good?”

Hadley tilted her head, her eyes lingering on his face, a small smile playing at her lips. “Okay.”

Right now, she would say yes to anything.

Because tomorrow, Eric would be gone—off to Laventown.

And this… This would be their final night together.

It was a gentle ending. A quiet moment before goodbye. By tomorrow, they would part. No anger. No drama. Just freedom.

Meanwhile, in Redmarsh.

Ernest and Elissa sat on opposite sofas, facing each other.

Elissa had lost count of how many times she’d spoken. Her mouth felt stiff from trying. “Again, Mr. Flynn, thank you for your help.”

“Okay.”

“Good. Please, have some water.”

“Okay.”

Each time, Ernest simply nodded and replied with a single word—calm, collected, distant.

Elissa fidgeted, uncertain. He was so composed, so unreadable, that she couldn’t figure out how to act around him.

Just then, his phone rang.

He stood and stepped aside to take the call. “Hello?”

“Ernest, it’s me.” It was Eric. His tone was brisk as he relayed the situation. “Hadley’s staying with me tonight. You’ll have to look after Locke’s mom for now.”

Before Ernest could answer, Eric’s voice dropped into a grumble, tinged with complaint. “Please get things sorted with her soon. She’s been hogging all of Hadley’s time—I come home every day to an empty house. I’ve had enough. When I get back, I don’t want Hadley running around after her anymore.”

And then, as if suddenly remembering he was speaking to his brother, Eric quickly added, “Thanks, brother. You’re the best!”

Click. The call ended.

Ernest stood still for a moment, staring at the phone. Eric’s words echoed in his mind, bitter and jarring.

Lowering the phone slowly, he turned back—Elissa was still on the sofa, eyes wide, quietly “watching” him.

She had no one else now. He had become her only anchor.
