Chapter 104: A Pleasant Day
Chapter 104: Chapter 104: A Pleasant Day
After Maito Gai left with his students, Kamizuki Hikari emerged from the restroom.
Gazing at the towering tree flourishing under the nourishment of the surrounding restrooms, Hikari felt a surge of pride.
’Rest in peace, Danzo!’
’Your remains are well taken care of. We won’t let you down.’
’You did so much for Konoha in life. Now, in death, let us contribute to your growth!’
"Hikari-senpai, you’re here early!" Shikamaru arrived ahead of the scheduled meeting time, surprised to see Hikari already present. Was this really the same lazy senpai he knew?
Hikari offered a mysterious smile.
’All thanks to that bastard Kakashi. If it weren’t for him, I’d still be in bed!’
"So, Shikamaru, did you train hard after getting home yesterday?"
As part of the Ino-Shika-Chō trio, the three were roughly equal in talent, differing only in their areas of focus.
Shikamaru’s face twisted awkwardly. Truthfully, he hadn’t trained at all.
Thanks to the pain from his hand injury, he hadn’t slept well either—part of the reason he’d arrived early.
Hikari, the master of slacking, saw right through him.
"Shikamaru, you better step it up. If Ino and Chōji progress to the next stage while you’re still stuck, well... tsk tsk."
No need to say more—a hint was enough.
Shikamaru, sharp as ever, understood the unspoken warning.
"Hold out your hand."
Lost in thought, Shikamaru complied without thinking. A tingling sensation spread through his hand, and the pain that had plagued him all night vanished. Only then did he realize Hikari had healed him.
"Hikari-senpai, I thought we weren’t supposed to heal injuries until after finishing the first stage of training?" Shikamaru asked, confused.
"Exactly!" Hikari nodded. "But tell me—did you feel like punching anything just now?"
"The pain is meant to temper your spirit, not make you timid. You’re a smart kid. I trust you’ll overcome your mental hurdles!"
"Keep it up!"
With an encouraging words, Hikari turned toward Training Ground 10.
"Finish up your business. Ino and Chōji will be here soon."
Ten minutes later, Shikamaru returned to the training ground, only to find an angry Ino and a smugly grinning Hikari. He immediately regretted his timing.
"Shikamaru! Finally! Hikari-senpai was teasing me!" Ino grabbed his arm, dragging him forward as if he were her savior.
Shikamaru smiled on the outside but was crying inside.
’Ino, you’ve got the wrong guy!’
’In every possible way, I’m zero to ten against senpai.’
Still, for the sake of appearances, he had to try.
"Ahem. Hikari-senpai, Ino says you teased her. Do you have anything to say in your defense?" As he spoke, Shikamaru frantically blinked at Hikari.
’Senpai, I’m begging you—just say no. I’ll calm Ino down, and we can pretend this never happened.’
Ignoring Shikamaru’s silent plea, Hikari glanced at Ino’s flat chest and shook his head.
"I just told Ino to eat more papayas at home to make up for her... shortcomings. How is that teasing? If the two of you stood side by side without talking, I’d think you were brothers, Shikamaru!"
"I’LL KILL YOU! EAT MY FIST!"
The last thread of Ino’s sanity snapped. She completely forgot Yamanaka Inoichi’s warning—never strike a man’s kidneys.
Right now, she had only one thought:
Revenge.
The flames of rage burned away her reason. All she wanted was to pummel Kamizuki Hikari into the ground.
"Sorry, but I trained you. If you managed to beat me, I’d be out of a job." Hikari’s hands moved fluidly, deflecting Ino’s furious punches with effortless precision.
"STOP BLOCKING ME!"
Ino howled in frustration, her anger only growing as Hikari effortlessly parried every strike.
"Fine!"
"Wait, really?" Ino paused, suspicious. As a sharp girl, she sensed a trap.
"Sure." Hikari slid his left hand behind his back, striking a signature martial master pose—exuding pure swagger.
"Come at me."
"You asked for it!"
Convinced Hikari wasn’t lying, Ino lunged. Her left hand shot for his right arm while her right fist aimed straight for his stomach.
’If this punch lands, Hikari-senpai will be rolling on the ground in pain—and I’ll generously forgive his insults!’
This was the punch of righteous fury.
Hikari’s right hand slipped past Ino’s left, lightly brushing her arm before grazing her right wrist. Then, he simply stood there as her fist hurtled toward his stomach.
*Smack!*
A crisp sound rang out.
But instead of Hikari’s agonized groans, Ino just stood there, stunned. She stared at her hand, feeling it go numb, and slowly retracted her fist.
"Well? You landed a punch. That should cool your anger, right?" Hikari took a step back, expression serious.
"It’s fine, it’s fine!" Shikamaru, unaware that Ino’s arms had gone limp, assumed she’d suddenly remembered Hikari was their instruc and stopped herself. noveldrama
"Alright, Chōji’s here too. You three, start by running ten laps around Training Ground 10. After that, Shikamaru continues with the first stage. Chōji, you’ll guide Ino through the second stage. Any questions?"
Chōji, who’d just arrived and been immediately assigned a task, wanted to protest—until he noticed the odd atmosphere.
Ino was still staring at her hands, betrayed by her own fists at the critical moment.
Shikamaru, meanwhile, was lost in thought, strategizing how to clear the first stage quickly.
"If there are no objections, get to training!" Kamizuki Hikari didn’t care whether they’d heard him or were just spacing out. His orders were given—now it was up to them.
’Go on, you’re proper shinobi now! Learn to push through hardship, face challenges head-on, and charge forward without fear! Go, Ino-Shika-Chō squad! Faito!’
