Chapter 200
Chapter 200
After hearing what Lorraine said, the man laughed and replied, "Are you sure you came to the right place, young lady? While I agree that some of the guys working here are pretty good -looking, there aren't any who'd look like a celebrity. We spend all day out in the sun, so we're all tanned. There's no way any one of us can avoid that."
Even the supervisor was tanned.
"Run along and ask the supervisor. All I know is that I don't remember anyone working here who isn't tanned."
"Thanks, mister," Lorraine said, figuring that the guy just didn't know who Logan was. She knew for a fact that he worked here. Charles had come over to ask around, and he had also heard that there was a guy named Logan Moore working here.
Not realizing that Logan had tricked her, Lorraine approached the makeshift office where the supervisor was. She was just about to knock when he appeared wearing a safety helmet. It looked like he was about to get to work.
Startled by the sight of her, the supervisor eyed Lorraine briefly before asking, "Who are you looking for, miss?"
"Hi there. I'm Logan Moore's wife. I'm here to see him. Can you call him to come over, please?"
The supervisor instinctively replied, "We don't have a Logan Moore... Oh. I just remembered now. You're looking for Logan, huh? I almost forgot what his name was.
"Just wait here, please. He's busy right now, so he won't be able to come over right away. But I'll tell him that you're here."
"Alright. Thanks!"
Lorraine didn't find the supervisor's reaction strange. After all, people often gave each other nicknames.
The supervisor brought out a stool from the office and asked Lorraine to sit at the entrance. He even brought out a fan and plugged it in for her.
Smiling, he explained, "The office is mighty stuffy, so forgive me for not inviting you in. It's cooler if you sat here with the fan instead."
"Thank you! By the way, I've brought some watermelons for everyone. Could you ask someone to get them from my car? I figured that eating some watermelon would be a good way to cool down on a hot day like this."
The supervisor chuckled and said, "How thoughtful of you. Give me a moment, alright? We can all dig into the watermelons together once I call Logan over."
"Okay. Thanks for everything," Lorraine said.
"Not at all. Have a seat. I'll go and talk to Logan," the supervisor said before walking off with a smile.
After turning around the corner, he hid behind the partially-built structure and made sure he was out of Lorraine's sight before getting his phone out to call William.
Once William answered the call, he hastily said, "I did as you told, Mr. Cornell. Someone's here to check on things again. Tell that Logan fellow to come over at once so that everything won't be exposed."Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
The supervisor genuinely had no clue who Logan was. A while back, William had sent someone over to talk to him. He had been brought to the cafe at Glendale Grand Hotel, and it was his first time seeing someone of William's social standing who was approachable and easygoing as well.
William had given him a few instructions. Namely, if someone were to check if a Logan Moore worked at the construction site, he was to say yes. If someone came looking for Logan, he had to get in touch with William right away.
For that, he even received William's contact information, which was a huge honor to him.
Although the construction site was funded by Moore Corporation, he wasn't the one who negotiated the development project with the company. He was a measly on-site supervisor in charge of overseeing the construction work. He didn't know anything about the inner workings of Moore Corporation. Thus, he didn't know Logan was the head of the company. "Who came to look for Logan?" William asked calmly.
"It's a young woman who looks like she's in her mid-to-late 20s. She wears a pair of glasses and seems to be around five feet seven inches tall. Judging from her accent, I think she's a Glendale local. She doesn't sound like a foreigner to me."
William instantly figured out it had to be Lorraine who came to check up on Logan.
"Got it. I'll tell Logan to head over there right now. Make sure you keep everything under wraps. Don't let her find out the truth."
