Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 47

Chapter 47 Hey, Aiken!

As her back hit the floor, her legs collided against the edge of the bed. One of her arms had a huge cut from the shattered glass and was bleeding badly. The pain from her throbbing arm kept her conscious. She bit her lips hard as she tried to stand, grabbing hold of a table for support.

Another loud thud echoed through the building. At that moment, the alarms in the hotel rang, and she could hear a staff member speaking urgently through the PA system.

“All guests please evacuate the building through the emergency stairway on the sixth floor.. Leave all valuables behind! This is an emergency!”

Seconds later, the announcement ceased as the hotel was again thrown into darkness. The backup power was gone.

Maia endured the throbbing pain as she stood up slowly. She dragged herself towards the door and hurled it open with all her strength.

Moments later, the door slammed shut behind her with a bang as the strong to blow. wind continued

The corridor she was in was covered in shattered glass. The winds blew through the broken. windows, creating a chaotic scene. The wind was so strong that it drowned out every sound, even yelling. Maia felt completely helpless.

In the dark, she turned on the flashlight that she had found and hurried to the emergency exit. Suddenly, something hard collided into Maia’s back, causing her to fall over. Just as suddenly, an arm shot out of nowhere and caught her.

“Are you okay?” A husky—voiced man asked.

Maia steadied herself and turned to face the person who saved her. She was surprised to see a man with sunglasses on and a cell phone in hand, holding onto her arm firmly.

Maia thought that she was hallucinating. Who, in their right mind, would have sunglasses on at a time like this? “Let me get you to the sixth floor! Come on, get on my back,” he said, bending over to help. her up.

Maia was mildly stunned as she looked at his large back. She recalled Buck telling her that Eldertown was a high-traffic area and that she should be careful of the people around her. She was not sure if she could trust the guy in front of her.

“Me “It's fine, | can walk on my own. Thank you,” Maia insisted. She could feel her legs almost giving way as she tried to move towards the emergency exit.

“How could you get to the sixth floor safely in this condition? Are you wary of me?” He immediately took off his sunglasses and pointed the flashlight towards his face.

“Aiken Cantrell?” Maia instantly recognized him.

“Maia Furgess?” Aiken was surprised to see her as he studied her face closely.

Maia was surprised to see the famous movie star in such a small town!

“What a surprise! | would never have expected to see the CEO of Starlight Entertainment here!

Not to mention experiencing a hurricane together, too.” Aiken said teasingly. He smiled brightly, showing his perfect teeth to her. They were strangers who knew exactly who the other was.

Seconds later, Aiken glanced around nervously and put his sunglasses back on.

“Since you already know who | am, this shouldn’t be a problem anymore. Hurry, get on my back and let’s move to the sixth floor!” Aiken quickly bent over and urged her to get on.

“But...” “Stop wasting time, | won't hurt you. Get on, so | can help others too!” Maia finally relented as she got on and whispered a thank you.

Aiken carried her on his back and hurried to get to the sixth floor. He was a very tall guy, about 1.82m. He stood out amidst this chaos.

“Why are you wearing sunglasses?” Maia was puzzled by this.

“| was worried that people would recognize me. My fans are everywhere. It'll only cause trouble.” Maia wanted to roll her eyes, more.”

“Having sunglasses on indoors would just make you

stand out

Aiken’s movements slowed for a moment as he realized that she was right. “Seeing that my hands are occupied, could you help me take them off?”

Maia agreed and gently removed his sunglasses from the bridge of his nose using her free hand.

This simple gesture made Aiken’s heart skip a beat as he slowed his pace. It was probably due to the fact that he had to carry her and walk up the sixth floor, he thought.

When they got to the sixth floor, they saw that most other guests were injured. Some of the hotel staff gave out provisions and checked the number of guests present.

The windows on the sixth floor were secured with duct tape. It looked to be the safest place in +15 BONUS Aiken placed Maia on a nearby sofa and went over to get some first aid items from the staff to help Mala with her wound.

“Why are you here? Is Starlight Entertainment planning to scout for new trainees from Eldertown?” Aiken asked curiously while looking at her disheveled yet still pretty appearance.

Maia shook her head.

“Then, what is it?”

“It's a corporate secret.”

“Fine. Then, why won't you ask about me? Aren’t you curious about why | am here?” Aiken smiled, switching the focus to himself. Maia shook her head again. “I respect your privacy and have no interest in it.”

Aiken smiled and mumbled something to himself.

“What was that?” Maia asked, as she was not able to hear him clearly.

“I'm here to visit family.”Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

Maia nodded.

“Okay, all done!” Maia could not help but laugh at how badly Aiken had dressed her wound.

“Stop laughing! This is the first time I've ever dressed a wound.” Aiken ran his hand through his messy hair to hide his growing embarrassment.

“Thank you.” Mala decided to stop teasing him after seeing how embarrassed he was. After all, he was her savior. Even though he made it look like she had more of a broken arm than just a cut, she still wanted to thank him.

Aiken was momentarily stunned by Maia’s sincere smile against her pale complexion. She looked like a fallen angel with that sweet, innocent, yet somewhat sultry smile.

Just then, the doors of the room on the sixth floor swung open, and a gust of wind blew inside.

Aman who was soaked to his skin came running in, panting, and yelling with urgency, “Is there anyone who can swim well? We need help! The rain has caused a flood at the nearby village, and some people are still trapped there! Most of them are children! The rescue team. may not get there in time!”

The room grew silent. No one knew what it was like outside. If they left to help, there might be

“I'll help! | used to be on the swimming team in my senior year!” Aiken volunteered almost instantly. Following Aiken’s lead, others started to follow suit.

“Tl help too!”

“Count me in as well!”

The drenched man immediately thanked them and left with Aiken and the others.

Maia shouted after him before Aiken could leave the room.

“Hey, Aiken!”
