Chapter 946: Paying Attention Next Time
Luna lowered her head, murmuring softly, “Hmm.”
She found the vegetables and meat she needed, “Could you let go of me first?”
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to cook.
Orion helped her with the vegetables.
“I’ll wash them.” He placed the vegetables in the sink and turned on the tap.
“In the future, I’ll learn how to cook so you can relax a bit more,” Orion suggested, “Hiring a maid is an option, but I feel uneasy with strangers in the house.”
Luna listened quietly.
“Why aren’t you responding?” Orion asked, “Did I say something wrong?”
“No, not at all,” Luna hurried to explain, “You’re right, it’s inconvenient to have strangers in the house.”
But soon Orion dismissed that thought, “No, we have Star, and there are many household chores to do at home. If it’s just you, it will be too tiring. It’s better to hire a maid to help with the housework. I haven’t learned to cook yet, we need someone to cook.”
Luna said, “You can arrange it.”
Orion nodded, “I’ll find a reliable maid.”
Luna asked, “Do you want to hire a young one?”
Orion hesitated.
Was she hinting at the incident with Vivian before?
Orion scratched his neck.
He awkwardly chuckled, “Let’s not bring up the past.”
Luna twitched her lips, “Hmm.”
Luna steamed the rice and arranged the vegetables that Orion had washed on the cutting board.
“Let’s have stir-fried potato slices,” Orion suggested.
Most potatoes were usually shredded, like sour and spicy shredded potatoes.
But anything delicious could get boring if eaten too much.
Even if it’s something you love, eating it every day can get tiresome.
Luna said, “Today’s potatoes need to be stewed.”
She cut the beef, “Potato and carrot stew with beef.”
Orion said, “I like whatever you make.”
Luna said, “Just now you said you wanted potato slices.”
Orion, “…”
“Save the potato slices for later.”
Luna chuckled, “I was just joking.”
Orion looked up, facing Luna’s profile.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
She had a faint smile on her face.
The fact that she could joke with him like this already made Orion very happy.
He took a deep breath, feeling reassured.
Things will get better in the future, right?
Wow… Wow…
Suddenly, Star’s cry was heard.
Luna put down the knife in her hand, wiped her hands, and was about to pick up Star. But she remembered that Orion couldn’t cook well, so she said, “You take care of Star, I’ll cook.”
Orion nodded, “Alright.”
He placed the washed lotus root on the cutting board and washed his hands before leaving the kitchen for Star’s bedroom.
Looking at his daughter’s tear-stained face, Orion gently picked her up, “Oh, Star, why are you so upset?”
Her little face had turned red from crying.
He gently wiped away her tears, checked if she had soiled herself.
And then…
The diaper opened up, and a sour smell filled the air…
Indeed, she had soiled herself.
He laid Star on the mat, changed her diaper, wiped her clean, and immediately, Star stopped crying.
Because her little bottom felt fresh and comfortable.
Orion fetched water to clean her up.
He changed her into clean clothes and a fresh diaper.
He carried Star to the kitchen.
Luna hurried him out, “You go outside quickly, Star is still young, and the air in the kitchen isn’t good for her.”
Orion said, “Then I’ll hold Star outside and wait for you.”
Luna agreed, “Sure.”
Orion held Star in the living room, watching TV.
He purposely chose a cartoon, but Star didn’t watch it and couldn’t understand it. She just seemed to love the voices in it.
Her eyes were like grapes.
Round and shiny.
Orion looked at his child and thought she looked beautiful no matter how he saw her.
He kissed his daughter’s cheek, “Little darling, you have to grow up quickly.”
“When she grows up, you’ll be old.”
Luna served the dishes on the table.
Orion turned to look at her.
With deep, genuine emotion, he said, “Luna, do you think we’ll still be together when Star grows up?”
Luna turned back to the kitchen, “I don’t know.”
Although their current relationship was relatively harmonious, the future was uncertain, and who knew what might happen?
There were too many unknowns in life.
Orion realized he was being too impatient.
They had just reconciled, and he was already thinking so far ahead, so it was no wonder Luna hesitated to answer.
After a while, the food was ready.
Luna set the table with utensils.
Orion fed Star powdered milk. She must have been hungry as she had seemed on the verge of tears earlier but was now eating happily.
With everything cleaned up, Luna came to check on Star.
Star squinted her eyes, drowsy but sucking on her pacifier with vigor.
Orion said, “You go ahead and eat, I’ll wait.”
Luna said, “No rush, wait until you put Star to sleep.”
Orion nodded.
After about half an hour, Star fell asleep.
Orion took her to her room. As soon as he put her down, she opened her eyes again. Orion hadn’t withdrawn his hand yet and leaned in, pretending to still hold her, gently patting her.
Star closed her eyes.
After a while, hearing the steady sound of her breathing, Orion quietly withdrew his arm.
Star’s mouth twitched slightly, but she didn’t wake up.
Seeing that there were no signs of her waking up, he covered her with a blanket.
Orion didn’t leave immediately. He watched his daughter for a moment, making sure she was truly sound asleep before silently leaving the room.
Luna sat on the sofa in the living room.
Orion walked out, and she didn’t notice.
Orion’s hand landed on her shoulder, “What are you thinking about?”
Luna jumped in surprise.
She reacted excessively.
Realizing it was Orion, she palely smiled, “Let’s eat.”
Orion asked, “Did I scare you?”
Luna shook her head, “No, no, I just…”
Orion’s sudden tap on her shoulder without warning had indeed startled her.
Orion knew his actions had startled her.
It wasn’t a big deal, but Luna had been through…
So her reaction was more intense than usual.
He apologized, “I’ll pay attention next time…”
“Hmm.”
Luna headed towards the dining room, “Let’s eat.”
Orion nodded.
Luna lowered her head and began eating her food quietly, with a lot on her mind.
Orion offered her a dish.
Luna came back to reality and said, “Thank you.”
“What are you thinking about? Can you tell me?” Orion asked.
Luna said, “Nothing much, I was just thinking…”
But never mind.
Talking about the past wouldn’t be good.
She smiled and offered Orion a bite, “Try this.”
