You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 981: Making Him Fall for Me

He whispered, “I understand, even if you don’t explain, I won’t be angry. But since you explained, I’ll forgive you.”

Verda’s brows immediately furrowed, pulling her lips, “Giving a finger but taking a hand, I shouldn’t have been nice to you.”

Xander, “…”

Hannah warmly used the public chopsticks to pick up food for Xander.

“We all love this dish, give it a try.”

Xander picked it up and tasted it, commenting, “Tastes good.”

Otis then pulled him to drink.

“You must have a good tolerance for alcohol, right?”

Xander chuckled, “It’s okay.”

Otis laughed heartily, “You’re being modest, you must be able to drink.”

Xander replied, “A little, just a little.”

Verda couldn’t bear it and said, “Dad, he’s busy with work and has to return to France tomorrow. If you make him drink too much, won’t it delay his matters?”

Otis awkwardly smiled, “Oh, I see.”

“Then what?” Verda took the alcohol away, “One drink each is enough.”

Otis glared at his daughter, “You’re a killjoy.”

Verda said, “I’m doing this for your own good.”

Hannah picked up the alcohol, stood up to pour Xander a drink, and then poured one for her husband.

“Stay here and rest for the day if you drink too much. We have plenty of rooms in our house, his flight isn’t until tomorrow, what’s the rush?”

Verda, “…”

She couldn’t believe it, looking at her mother, “Are you familiar with him? You’ve only known him for a short time, and you want him to stay the night? Aren’t you afraid he’s a bad person?”

“Don’t worry, he’s harmless, I’ve checked everything.”

Xander, “…”

Verda, “…”

She felt like she had lost face in front of Xander.

She had never been this embarrassed in all her life.

All her years of dignity had been lost in one fell swoop today!

And the instigators were her own parents.

Otis glanced at his wife, knowing her words weren’t appropriate.

Trying to smooth things over, he said, “She’s just being enthusiastic, don’t mind her.”

He patted Xander’s hand.

Xander forced a smile, “No problem, no problem.”

Clearly, Verda was the precious daughter of this family, the apple of her parents’ eyes, but now she seemed like the bad guy, with her parents fawning over Xander.

They kept serving him food, pouring him drinks.

The dishes on his plate were piled half a foot high.

It was as if they wanted him to eat everything on the table.

Verda crossed her arms, watching her parents.

Was she so desperate for a relationship that her parents were getting all worked up?

Whenever a man appeared, they were so ecstatic?

Why couldn’t she see what was so great about Xander?

The thought popped up, and another thought countered it.

Wasn’t he better than those blind date partners?

Better than the playboys who only loved her looks?

Better than the phoenix men who coveted her family background?Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

Better-looking than those ugly blind date prospects?

Verda couldn’t argue and rolled her eyes helplessly!

Verda didn’t eat much during the meal, but Xander did, he drank a lot too, looking like he was drunk.

After dinner, Verda said, “He’s drunk, I’ll take him to the hotel.”

“Why go to a hotel, let him stay here?” Hannah said.

Otis chimed in, “That’s right, that’s right.”

Verda was speechless.

She couldn’t argue with her parents, “Alright, alright, do as you wish.”

“Then quickly help Xander to his room.”

Verda, “Which room should I take him to?”

Hannah suddenly realized, “Oh, the guest room hasn’t been prepared yet, let him rest in your room for now.”

Verda, “…”

She was shocked and looked at her mother incredulously, “Dad, Mom, are you this open-minded? Putting a man in your daughter’s room?”

“He’s drunk, what could happen?” her father asked.

“Haven’t you heard of how alcohol can lead to inappropriate behaviors?” Verda asked.

Both parents shook their heads in unison, “Nope.”

Verda, “…”

She was utterly speechless towards her parents.

If she didn’t know that her parents and Xander really didn’t know each other before, she would’ve thought Xander was their son, to be so casual about it.

Her parents weren’t like this before.

Even when they urged her to get married, they never pushed her into someone else’s arms like this!

“If something really happens, we’ll make him take responsibility and marry you directly.”

After hearing this, Xander couldn’t help it and burst into laughter.

This Verda’s family was really too warm, he felt like he was in paradise, how could there be parents as lovely as these?

Verda was disgusted to the point of death, “Xander, you’re so dirty.”

“He’s just had too much to drink.” Hannah had the servants clean up, “Alright, no more talking, help him to his room, he doesn’t look well.”

Verda couldn’t manage him alone, so she called a servant to help bring him back to her own room.

Once in the room, she just threw Xander onto the bed!

Xander’s body sank into a soft world.

The air around him was fragrant.

“What perfume are you using?” He squinted, smiling half-drunk.

Verda said, “Never mind your business, stop talking and go to sleep.”

Xander was indeed drunk, but his mind was clear.

He closed his eyes, “I’m sorry for sleeping in your bed, but I really… can’t get up. Your father purposely made me drink.”

Verda immediately retorted, “Stop talking nonsense, my father didn’t force you to drink, you just can’t handle your alcohol.”

Xander didn’t say anything.

He closed his eyes.

Eventually, he fell asleep unknowingly.

Verda watched him silently.

The door suddenly opened.

Hannah walked in, “Verda.”

“Mom.” Verda stood up and walked over.

Her mother said, “Your father and I have some things to attend to, we’re leaving now, we won’t be back tonight. When he wakes up and wants to leave, you can see him off for us.”

Verda frowned, “Where are you going?”

“Oh, it’s work-related matters, you wouldn’t understand if I explained, anyway, stay at home, it’s impolite to leave with guests here, your father and I will be off now.” Hannah said as she walked out.

Verda followed her, seeing her off downstairs.

She hesitated, “You’re not going out intentionally, are you?”

Her mother said, “What nonsense are you talking about, we have guests at home, why would we go out for fun?”

Verda raised her lips, “I actually think you’re leaving us space for me and Xander to be alone, isn’t that your idea?”

Having her thoughts guessed, Hannah glared at her daughter, refusing to admit, “Do we look like the sort to come up with devious ideas all day long?”

“Maybe not before, but now-hard to say.”

Otis spoke seriously, “Verda, you’re not a kid anymore, don’t be childish.”

Though she felt uncomfortable knowing her parents were excessively pleased with Xander, she didn’t dare to tell them the truth.

She sighed, “I understand, you can go out without worry, I’ll take care of him and try to make him fall for me.”
