Chapter 227
Chapter 227
Patricia glanced calmly at him. "What do you mean by that? I'm actually here to get you to let us off the hook!"
With three kids, she hoped that they would leave her and her family in peace after clearing the debt.
Yet, Blake nearly dropped to his knees as he cried out, "Miss Aniston, I've learned my lesson and I won't do this ever again! The five hundred thousand is my compensation for Miss Sylvie's hospital bill."
A surprised look flashed across Patricia's eyes as she did not expect him to have such decency. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
She stopped resisting and said, "Okay. If that's the case, then you should cover the cost of Sylvie's hospitalization. I've spent twenty thousand, so I'll transfer the balance of it back to you."
This was the first time Blake had ever encountered someone as stubborn as her. He reckoned she must be an idiot to reject a gift horse in the mouth! However, he experienced first-hand how she behaved in a frenzied state and it was a terrifying ordeal.
"Miss Aniston, I'll be frank with you. You're Mr. Arnold's woman and I can't afford to offend him, so we can't accept the money. Please don't come over to the company anymore." At this point, even a loanshark was terrified of her.
As soon as she heard Isaac's name, she immediately caught on to things. It's because of him. Then, a faint smile appeared on her visage as she got up. "I'll leave, then."
She could tell that her presence in this office terrified this man and she was not too sure what Isaac had done to the man.
She walked out of the loan company and sat in her car. Subsequently, she transferred six hundred thousand to Darcie.
'Darcie, this is a present for Poppy. You don't have to repay me the money.'
After Patricia sent the text, she blinked her large eyes and looked at the clear skies outside. What a nice weather.
She wondered what Isaac was currently up to and whether he was busy with work at the company. It was close to 12.00PM, so she wondered whether he had taken his lunch. As such, she dialed his number after which he answered the phone quickly.
"Hello," he greeted in a neutral tone and one could hardly tell his emotions from his voice. He spoke to her as if he was speaking to a stranger.
Suddenly, Patricia could not contain her dejectedness. However, she brushed it off with a smile. "President Arnold, where are you right now? I would like to treat you to lunch."
At that moment, Isaac was seated in front of his work desk after a busy morning. He had just ended a conference call and was exhausted. His voice was also hoarse from the excessive cigarettes he had puffed on.
"I'm at the company. I'm happy that you're treating me, but could you come over to my office, and
perhaps we can eat here?"
So, the big boss is actually very busy with work and even has to work over the weekend. In comparison, she had the entire weekend off. As soon as she thought of that, she realized that he was a great employer.
"Okay. I'll buy the food and bring it over to your office. I won't take too long. I should be there in half an hour. If you're hungry, then there are some snacks in the pantry that are specifically for you."
She was his personal secretary, so she was aware of all of his matters.
Isaac could not resist the smile on his face and his spirits seemed to be lifted significantly. "Okay."
Replying in a low voice, he hung up the phone subsequently. Patricia felt that he was cold and seemed to exude a distant feeling.
However, it was natural for someone in his position and family background to behave that way. He had held a top position for too long, so it was natural for him to develop a cold personality.
Feeling like a rich single lady, Patricia generously ordered food from Spago for Isaac. She did not ask for delivery services but personally went to collect the food.
Subsequently, she made her way to Arnold Corporation. As soon as she entered the office, she saw Isaac seated on his chair while pressing on his temples with his long slender fingers, looking exhausted.
She put down the food on the coffee table next to the couch and walked over to stand behind him. She
blew some warm air on her hands and then started to massage his temples.
Although she was not a professional, she was skillful at giving a head massage.
Previously when she was back at home, her grandpa had always suffered from migraines, so she always gave him head massages. She had even gone for some classes to learn the proper technique, hence her skill.
Isaac instantly relaxed as soon as he felt the pressure from her fingers.
