Chapter 245
Chapter 245
His birthday is some time after Christmas. I have to finish the sweater before that.
Silence fell for a moment. And then he said, "I don't celebrate my birthdays."
That caught Patricia by surprise. He doesn't celebrate his birthdays? Shouldn't his parties be as lavish as possible? But he didn't sound happy when he brought his birthday up. "I'll finish it before Christmas," she promised.
He grunted.
Oh, Darcie's come back out. She said quickly, "I have to go now. Don't forget to have dinner." She hung up and approached Darcie. "I'll go to the hospital for you if you don't feel well." She knew the doctors well as she had gone to the hospital a lot over the last two years.
Darcie looked sickly. Even her lips were white. "It's alright. I wanna see Poppy."
Worried, Patricia took her to the hospital. There were two ladies taking care of Poppy. They said Percy had hired them.
Darcie said nothing. He's trying to make up for his departure. Either way, it made Darcie's life easier.
One of the servants was feeding Poppy. When Poppy saw Patricia, she smiled. "Where's Sylvie, Miss Patricia? I miss her and the boys."
Patricia sat down on the edge of the bed and took the plate over from the servant to feed Poppy herself. "I'm busy lately, so I didn't bring them along. Next time."
Her kids' holiday would start this week. Today was their last day in school for a while, but she never talked about school whenever Poppy was around.
She has been out of school for two years. I bet she really wants to attend a school like the other kids. Patricia was worried that the mention of school would sadden her. Poppy was frail and thinner than she was last time. Patricia's heart went out to her.
"Mommy said I'm going to undergo the surgery next week, and then I can go around like the other kids. I can go to school with Sylvie." Poppy's eyes shone when she talked about that. Her happiness was almost palpable.
Patricia teared up. If Percy saw this, he might never have run away.
…
Three days later, Patricia and Isaac came back from a work survey. The moment they came back to the office, they saw Rose on the couch waving at them. "Hi, Patricia. Wanna grab lunch together?"
Patricia looked at Isaac and forced a smile. "Sure."
Isaac took his coat off. Patricia took it and hung it on the hanger.
Rose was now sitting before Isaac, who was buried in work. She rested her chin on her hand and
stared fixedly at him. "We're getting lunch together, Isaac. Come with us." She came just to see Isaac. It's been six months. He got hotter.
Isaac noticed her staring at him, so he shot back with an icy look. "You graduated college?"
Rose nodded. "Earlier than I planned, so I have nothing to do but laze at home. Do you need more secretaries? I can work for you."
She would work for him if it meant seeing him every day. When she saw Patricia's desk earlier, only god knew how jealous she felt.
Patricia took her seat. She felt a little uneasy seeing Rose staring at Isaac like she wanted to gobble him up, so she got up from her seat and approached her. "Ms. Ortega, why don't you wait for me at the restaurant? I'll come over at lunchtime." There's like an hour before lunchtime. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Rose's attention was still on Isaac's beautiful face. A smile curled her lips. "It's alright. I can wait right here with you."
