Chapter 338
"Charles, don't you dare lay a finger on Eve!"
He didn't deserve her!
It was two years ago when Adam got that frantic call from Evelyn, and he rushed to be by her side. That was when he first found out about Charlie's death, during her initial battle with depression and a heartbreaking suicide attempt. In that moment, just like Eve, he was filled with a burning hatred for Charles and Dahlia.
His heart broke for Eve, who had taken on everything by herself, only to be driven into a deep depression by Charles and Dahlia. Eve had just barely started to find her footing again after reconnecting with Ms. Josephine, and now Charles was back, using Ms. Josephine's illness as a weapon to manipulate Evelyn.
He was the absolute worst!
Old grudges mingled with new ones, and Adam tried to remind himself to keep his cool when he went to see Evelyn, despite his rage toward Charles and Dahlia. But the moment he laid eyes on Charles, his self-control shattered. In a fit of anger, he swung a bottle at Charles, wishing he could end him then and there.
Quick as a flash, Charles dodged the bottle before it could hit his head, throwing up an arm to deflect it. The bottle shattered against his wrist, and shards of glass left angry red streaks on his hand.
Charles's face was as cold and hard as steel as he grabbed Adam's wrist, eyes icy and dangerous. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
His grip was vise-like, and the bottle slipped from Adam's hand. Charles held Adam's arm in an iron grip, the pressure so intense that beads of sweat formed on Adam's forehead from the pain. For daring to strike him, Adam's hand seemed destined to pay the price.
But just as Charles was about to break Adam's hand, a voice echoed in his mind: "Charles, don't do it. You can't hurt Adam's hand; it's too important."
Charles loosened his grip a bit, frustration etched on his face. "Get lost."
With that, he shoved Adam aside and turned back toward the sofa where Evelyn lay in a drunken haze.
Adam, refusing to back down, launched a kick aimed low. He didn't care about fighting dirty. Charles had a hand in Charlie's death; it was only fair if he couldn't continue his line.
Forced to let Adam go, Charles stepped back to dodge the kick and retaliated with
a swift one to Adam's stomach, sending him stumbling backward.
The bar manager hurried over, noticing the blood on Charles's hand, his expression shifted. "Mr. Jenkins."
As he spoke, he moved to call the police, but Charles cut him off. "No need. Just get him out."
"Yes, Mr. Jenkins."
The manager quickly called in security, who hustled Adam out of the bar. With Adam no longer in his way, Charles bent down, scooped Evelyn off the sofa, and strode out of the semi-private room.
Seeing Evelyn back in Charles's grasp, Adam fought against the security holding him. Desperate, he broke free and chased after them He watched as Charles reached the car, the driver opening the door as Charles was about to place Evelyn inside. noveldrama
Adam knew Evelyn was ignoring her own feelings for the sake of Ms. Josephine But he also knew she was deeply unhappy about going. back to Charles. Thinking of her tears tonight, he knew how much she dreaded being with Charles again.
.n
Adam's heart truly ached for Eve. He was genuinely worried and terrified that Charles's relentless pressure would push Evelyn into another breakdown. He couldn't stand the thought of her in such misery
In a rush of desperation, he shouted, "Charles, do you want to drive Eve to her
death again?"
Charles froze, clearly caught off guard.
What do you think?
