Chapter 2356
Frank smiled. "Well, Mr. Ingram, you've been quite upfront, so I'll return your favor. See, I have no plans to get married at the moment. Moreover, I believe that having your daughter marrying her savior is a little callous and disrespectful toward her."
Donnie had believed that Frank was even more difficult than Jada and was therefore surprised that he was not bothered with verbal fencing.noveldrama
"If that's what you're worried about, I'll have my daughter tell you what she really thinks!" he exclaimed.
Even if they had not planned anything beforehand, Donnie knew his daughter well enough to know that she earnestly liked Frank.
Frank's other ladies notwithstanding, Alda would give anyone else the cold shoulder, but not Frank.
She was always acting embarrassed, clearly playing hard to get!
"Sure!" Frank nodded in agreement.
On the other hand, Jada frowned, a little unsure as to what Frank was up to.
This was not his style, as he would never allow anyone to corner him!
And since Donnie was all too pleased to let Frank and Alda have a heart-to-heart talk, he sent for her.
When Alda arrived, he asked, "Dear, why don't you tell Mr. Frankton directly what you think of him? You don't have to worry about me-Mr. Frankton is right that this is the new age, and marriages can't be decided by parents. So if you don't like him, I wouldn't force you to marry him."
In fact, just like Jada, Donnie was confused as to why Frank was playing into his hands.
However, he was not about to look a gift horse in the mouth, even though Frank was very likely trying to discourage him by playing on Alda's shyness.
After all, even if Alda really liked Frank, she might not be that straightforward with Donnie and Jada around.
To avoid that, Donnie added, "You should think before you speak. If you say you don't like him, he might really leave you."
Alda was actually too shy to say it.
But considering the alternative of not seeing Frank anymore, she found courage and said with determination, "I like him... No, love him very much, ever since we first met!"
Donnie nodded in approval-this was inevitable, and Frank could not weasel his way out of this now.
To his surprise, however, Frank did not react like he was losing at all.
"Understood!" He nodded. "And your dad's asking us to get married soon. What do you think about that?"
"Why so soon?" Alda looked bemused. "Shouldn't we prioritize our careers first?' Donnie and Jada appeared troubled right then.
To think that they were presuming that Frank blundered he was simply waiting to spring a surprise jab!
And since Donnie said he would respect Alda's decision, he had to follow through on it, thus denying him any reason to rush them into getting married.
He really was different-one would expect nothing less from the man who made Pax Jaric bend!
"That was an uppercut to behold!"
Donnie sighed. "Well, I guess it's fine
since Alda has already said it
herself. I won't try to push this agenda anymore-just keep this in mind, and don't forget it.
"I would've liked to fool around more when I was younger too, but I decided that family was more. important than anything else. can only hope you'll understand that soon."
Jada smiled. "Don't worry, Mr. Ingram—Mr. Frankton values relationships the most, and he'd never abandon family. Now let's talk about something else!"
What do you think?
