The classmates exchanged puzzled glances.

Jovian saw them standing blankly and snapped, "What are you looking at? Apologize! Is that how you talk to a classmate?"

One of them realized Jovian was being serious. He got up awkwardly and said, "I'm sorry, Matthew. I shouldn't have said what I did. Please don't take it to heart."

Another chimed in, "Matthew, I'm sorry that I slipped up. Don't take it personally."

Only after several classmates had apologized did Jovian turn to Matthew. "They've all apologized, so let's just let this slide for my sake. Let's sit and have a few drinks."

But Matthew had even less interest in staying. "Sorry, but I have other plans."

Jovian panicked, so he decided to come clean with his intentions. "To be honest, there's something I'd like your help with."

The others were stunned. Jovian was about to be promoted to district leader while Adrian was a city official. If a person of Jovian's status was asking Matthew for a favor, did this mean Matthew was on the rise?

They each silently regretted their earlier comments that might have offended Matthew.

Matthew had suspected there was something more going on from the start. He replied, "I'm just a chauffeur, and you're a future district leader. I'm not sure how I could help you."

Jovian chuckled. "It's something trivial and nothing too difficult for you."

Something trivial? Matthew felt something was off. If it were something trivial, he wouldn't have gone to such lengths to invite him here.

"What's this about?" he asked.

He wanted to know why Jovian had gone out of his way to summon him.

Jovian smiled. "I don't know the

specifics, but someone asked me to bring you here. He said he has a minor conflict with you and needs my help in meditating. Since we used to be classmates, I figured you'd show up out of consideration for that, so I agreed to help."

He wasn't trying to avoid saying who it was. Adrian had been very secretive and only mentioned it was a friend. He had refused to provide more details about the conflict.

Jovian had asked about it, but Adrian simply replied things would clear up once they met.

Jovian didn't care much about what the issue was. Given his position, he was confident Matthew would have to show him respect no matter what the circumstances were.

Matthew couldn't think of anyone who'd have a conflict with him severe enough to require mediation. He hesitated and was wondering whether to agree when a phone rang.

Jovian took out his phone and told Matthew, "That's probably them arriving. Let me take this call."

Then, he glanced at the screen and confirmed it was indeed Adrian. He answered, "Uncle Adrian, has your friend arrived?"

Adrian's voice came through the phone. "Yes, but I need to clarify that this person isn't just anyone. This needs to be handled well, or there's no way I'll be able to explain myself. Let me confirm once more-are you sure you can convince Matthew to agree to a reconciliation?"

Jovian confidently replied, "Matthew and I used to be classmates. We get along

well, so he'll respect my wishes."

Adrian said, "Alright then. Bring Matthew over. We're in Harmony Suite."

Then, Jovian hung up and turned to Matthew. "Let's go meet them."

Matthew was resistant to the idea. He was barely close to Jovian, so he didn't think he had to oblige for Jovian's sake. But he was curious about who this person who had a conflict with him was. He even brought in a mediator.

"Alright, I'll meet them and see who it is."

Jovian had the remaining classmates enjoy their meal before he led Matthew out of the room and toward Harmony Suite.

As they walked, he advised, "Matthew, I'm telling you that you need to show this

guy proper respect. No matter what the conflict is, smile and apologize for my sake."
