Chapter 896
Jerome immediately pulled out his phone. "I'll make the call now. They'll be dealt with right away."
As he spoke, he dialed a number and called the disciplinary department.
Javier, now trembling with fear, crawled over to Jerome and clutched his legs, pleading desperately, "Please! Don't make the call, Mr. Murray. Out of consideration for Sarah, have mercy on us."
Jerome's expression darkened, his voice laced with warning. "The relationship you're talking about is purely professional. Don't you dare twist it into something else."
Javier looked up at Jerome, begging, "Please, give us a way out."
Jerome had encountered foolish people before, but Javier had set a new standard for stupidity. "Why are you begging me? You've offended him, not me. Beg him if you want to live."
It took Javier a moment to realize what Jerome meant-everything depended on Matthew's decision. Realizing this, Javier turned and crawled toward Matthew again, kneeling before him. "Please, have-"
Before he could finish, Matthew's leg lashed out like a whip, striking Javier square in the face.
With a loud thud, Javier's body stiffened before he crumpled to the ground, unconscious.
Jerome, who had just ended his phone call, saw Javier sprawled out on the ground and couldn't help but feel a chill.
Even though he needed Matthew's help, his sheer audacity and disregard for consequences left Jerome uneasy.
Matthew noticed Jerome had ended his call and asked, "How long until they arrive?"
Jerome hesitated for a moment before replying. "Should be in about 20 minutes."
He added, "You mentioned helping someone apply for a medical license. Did they bring their ID and a photo?"
Matthew frowned slightly. "No, I didn't bring anything. I just wanted to inquire about the process and what's required."
Jerome replied with a smile, "Ah, I see. I assume your friend is applying for a medical license for traditional medicine practitioners? If they've apprenticed with a mentor for three years and can demonstrate O independent diagnostic skills, that qualifies as a recognized lineage in traditional medicine. The process is straightforward for such cases."
Matthew shook his head. "His mentor passed away years ago. How can he prove it?"
Jerome's brows furrowed. "Could you tell me more about the situation?"
Matthew nodded. "My friend's name is Tony Carling."
The mention of Tony Carling lit up recognition in Jerome's eyes. "I know him. A
few years back, he took the exam and scored just one point. After that, he disappeared.
"It was unfortunate timing for him. When the licensing requirement was first implemented, the only way to qualify was through an exam. It was a tough break for seasoned
iel
practitioners like him, who had never studied formal clinical methods or pharmacological basics."
He sighed and continued, "Thankfully, the rules have relaxed since then. Now, traditional
medicine practitioners who havenet
trained under a mentor and possess diagnostic skills can obtain a license without needing to take an exam."
Matthew's heart sank. He couldn't help but feel for Tony, who had been pushed to
the brink by such rigid regulations. He wanted to say something to advocate for Tony, but the words died in his throat.
Instead, he resolved to focus on helping Tony secure a license.
"He's older now, and his mentor has long since passed. How can we get his license?"
Jerome hesitated for a moment before responding, "It's a bit tricky now. Without a mentor, there's no way to establish lineage, and without that, the process can't move forward."
Matthew was left speechless at Jerome's explanation. "What does that mean? He's been practicing medicine for years and has clearly demonstrated independent diagnostic skills. Isn't that enough?"
"Well..." Jerome shifted uncomfortably. "It's just that this doesn't follow the established procedures. We've never handled something like this before."noveldrama
Matthew raised an eyebrow. "So, a lifetime spent practicing medicine isn't sufficient proof of his competence? Why does he need to prove lineage? Isn't this whole system absurd?"
What do you think?
