Chapter 112
Deborah could tell that Evelyn hesitated, and her expression instantly changed. She could not help but feel a little angry.
"It was just a grave visit in the past, so it was fine if Lucas did not appear. But this is an important day. How could he not come? Evie, be honest with me. Did something happen between the two of you?" Deborah stared into Evelyn's eyes, looking a little worried.
Evelyn pursed her lips. It was hard for her to tell Deborah about Lucas and Tiffany. On top of that, Tiffany was Millie's daughter. Deborah would not be able to take it.
"He... will come," said Evelyn. All she could do was to avoid answering the critical question.
Deborah stared at her for a moment before she sighed. "If Lucas' grandfather was not close army friends with your grandfather, I would've gone to him to demand an explanation!"
Maria was the one who agreed to this marriage back then. She kept promising that Lucas would never wrong Evelyn. It was only then that Deborah believed her.
At the moment, Lucas was neither indifferent nor showing strong interest in Evelyn. What exactly did that mean?
Evelyn comforted Deborah and said, "It's getting late. Go and get some rest."
She would take care of these matters herself. She did not wish to get her grandmother involved and make her unhappy.
Deborah wanted to say something but held her tongue. It was after she told Evelyn to have a safe trip home that she went upstairs.
Evelyn had driven to the sanatorium earlier. The parking lot at the sanatorium was full, so she parked near the outpatient department. She strolled to her car, treating it as a chance to get some fresh air.
When she got to the parking lot, she heard a woman's flirtatious voice in the near distance, saying, "Give me more kisses, Blake."
Evelyn could not help but stop in her tracks and look over.
The lights at the parking lot were dim. A woman had her arms wrapped around the man next to the Mercedes-Benz. She was on her tiptoes, kissing the man's chin. She was being flirtatious and trying to get intimate with the man.
Blake had his arms around her waist. His expression could not be seen clearly. With a laid-back and mischievous tone, he said, "That's bold of you. Don't you know there are "
He paused as he saw from the corner of his eye that Evelyn was standing not too far away.
A look gleamed in Blake's eyes, and his attitude suddenly changed. He pulled Jessica into his arms, put one hand on the car door, and raised Jessica's chin. Then, he bit and kissed her neck, making her moan.
At first, he was not in the mood. However, as soon as he saw Evelyn, he remembered what she told him the last time. "No one stays in the same place forever."
Was that so? Blake wanted to see if Evelyn had truly moved on or if she was just saying it.
Seeing the sight before her, Evelyn felt repulsed. It was true that she could not understand why Blake would become like this. He used to be carefree, but he would care most about her feelings. He would not openly show her such an unpleasant scene as he was doing at that moment.
She looked away and let out a sigh. Then, she continued walking toward her car without any expression.
Blake frowned after he saw her reaction-or lack thereof. He let go of Jessica almost instantly.
Jessica was still on cloud nine, panting hard as she looked at him. "What's the matter?"
Blake took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and said with a frown, "Isn't your stomach hurting? Let's see what your medical report says later."
Jessica hugged his arm, pursing her lips. "It's not hurting anymore. Why don't we just head back? We were already halfway there. I can't take it anymore..."
She had gone to look for Blake that day, wanting to get intimate with him. Blake had ignored her as he was busy with work.
She was bored, though, so she played with the items in his study.
She accidentally broke one of two matching handmade ceramic mugs on his shelf. That was the first time Blake lashed out at her. He questioned her angrily about why she messed with his things.
Then, he snatched the broken pieces away from her hands. He looked like he was very concerned and nervous because he did not know what to do.noveldrama
At that moment, the grievance that Jessica felt after he scolded her vanished.
She felt that Blake was concerned about her and worried she would be cut by the broken pieces.
What do you think?
