The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha

Chapter 10: Let's not care

"You should see the way it went" Olivia states, giggling with some pack members

in the council hall where they held their meeting.

"Your skin is glowing today" A small girl states

"Yea it is, what's the secret?" Another chime in

"Yea, tell us Olivia" Alexandra states at a close distance.

Strolling closer to Olivia and some of the pack members, her face warm and soft.

"What are you doing here?" Olivia asks

"Just passing by and your skin caught my attention as well, I wonder why it is glowing. Is it because you were around my mate, Nathaniel, or because you love him?"

The pack members widened their eyes, shocked. "What?"

Alexandra's eyes soften. "Do you love him?"

By this time, Nathaniel was standing in a corner watching the scene as it unfolds. "Do you love him?"

Olivia blinks her eyes rapidly, ashamed as the pack members throw a disgusting look at her.

"Is okay if you love him, you don't have to be ashamed of what people might say or think about you Olivia"

"What... what are you doing" Olivia yells

"What do you mean what am I doing? I'm only caring about you" she states causing the pack members to be moved

"Caring?" Olivia scoffs, wondering what game she was playing.

"Yes, why else will I be here if I don't care about my sister" tears crawl up her soft eyes "I care about you a lot Olivia that's why I'm asking if you love Nathaniel, even if he's my mate, you don't have to lie about your feelings. As your sister, I'm telling you that is okay, to tell the truth"

"Alexandra, you -" she seethes

"I can only help you if you tell the truth but if you won't say it then is alright, always know that I'm here for you if ever you wish to speak about it" Turning around, Alexandra leaves, wiping the tears off her eyes, smiles sinisterly, walking pass some other pack members standing around who had also been watching the scene, whispering to each other as they stare at Olivia.

Alexandra couldn't be happier, Olivia dug her own grave, she only had to assist her in burying herself. Alexandra had ruined Olivia's reputation and no one in the Guerrero pack was going to look at her the same way, others might start to hide their mate away from her and that alone would devastate her. But Alexandra wasn't satisfied, deep down, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Olivia hurt her, she cut deeper than she had imagined and no matter how she looked at it, a simple tarnished image doesn't cut it out.

For the invisible scars she had inflicted on her delicate skin, Alexandra wanted nothing more than to watch Olivia burn to the ground and she wasn't going to stop until she made it happen.

As she steps out of the building, bumps into Nathaniel. Locking eyes with her, he observes her, suspiciously, Alexandra was a mystery he wanted to unravel ever since he had met her, and now more than ever, he was eager to hear it all.

"What?" Alexandra asks, figuring he must have seen her speaking with Olivia.

"What was that all about?"

"Why do you care?"

"I want to know"

"Is nothing to you so drop it"

"You are my mate and I deserve to know"

"No, you don't"

"Why?"

"Because of a lot of reasons"

Nathaniel runs his hand through his face. "Fine let's hear them"

Alexandra rolls her eyes. "You are stressing me, Nathaniel, I don't owe you an explanation as to what I do, and just to be clear, we are nothing to each other"

A rush of anger surges through Nathaniel.

"Nothing?"

"Yea, do you think because we talked in the woods, and ate in the same restaurant while sharing the same table changes anything, it doesn't so you learn

to mind your own business. I told you not to interfere in my business"

"Your business is my business now Alexandra, we are mates and even more, we will soon be getting married"

"What we will have is a marriage by agreement. No, what we will ever have is a marriage by agreement, so drop the act because I'm not interested and don't owe you an explanation"

Infuriated, Nathaniel molds his fist tightly for a moment, his blood boiling with anger within his body but he wouldn't dare show it. She was right, what they had was a marriage by agreement and he doesn't need to ever forget that, besides, he only needed her to stabilize his position so the least he can do is not care about her since she already sounded it clearly in his ears.

"You are right, we mean nothing to each other, just two mates who agreed to get married for a purpose"

"Yes"

Nathaniel nods affirmatively, glances at his wristwatch realizing dusk was falling rather rapidly, and closes the space between them.

"One of these days, I will have to take you to Crimson pack"

"Your clan?"

"Yes, I need to introduce you to some of my pack members, and then we can sit down and talk about our wedding"

"There is nothing much to talk about"

"True but we haven't picked a date, we only said after the next full moon but no date"

"Sure, weddings are a lot" She states, pleased.

"I'm glad you know Alexandra Guerrero" leaning towards her, Nathaniel whispers

into her ear "Take care of yourself until next time"

He turns around to leave.

"Is that your version of chivalry?"

Nathaniel looks at her. "I don't know, that depends on the type you fancy. Do you

prefer I walk you back home or carry you in my arms"

Alexandra laughs. "A well-meaning goodbye would cut"

"I don't do goodbye Alexandra"

"Why? Because you're an Alpha"

"No, because I don't know how to. I wasn't taught how to say goodbye to people"noveldrama

"Why?"

"I guess it has to do with being an Alpha or something"

"Goodbye Alpha Nathaniel Starkov"

"See you Alexandra Guerrero" He departs, and Alexandra gawks at him till he is

out of sight, a little smile creeps on her face, and she attempts to howl to her wolf but couldn't.

Inhaling deeply, she exhales and attempts to call out to her again but couldn't, her eyes widening realizing it was gone
