The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha

Chapter 11: By the Moon

The full moon shines through the window, staring down at Alexandra and she stares back at it, a smile creeping on her face. She has always been fond of watching the moon ever since she was a little girl.

Whenever she was lonely and downcast, she would sit by the window talking to the moon as if it heard her. Alexandra didn't know why she felt strongly attached to the moon but all she knows is that with it, she found a great friend to talk with.

Hearing a soft knock come on the door, Alexandra groans loudly wishing she could tell whoever was standing behind closed doors to go away and never return.

"Come in" she turns around meeting Bernard's cold gaze as he enters.

Observing intently, she could see right through him, deep down she knew what he wanted to say but she wasn't going to listen to him, not after he had betrayed her.

"That Man, Alpha Nathaniel Starkov" He glances around trying to search for something he isn't sure of.

"What about him?"

"He seems different"

"What do you mean different?"

"How well do you know him?"

"He's my mate, I know him better"

Bernard walks closer to her, his eyes locking into hers. "Are you even certain he's your mate?"

Alexandra shoots sharply. "Are you certain Veronica is your mate?"

Bernard's eyes widened, he had not expected such utterances from her.

"I have the blood of a wolf running through my vein and to top it all, I'm an Alpha

so if there's anything I can do is tell who is my mate and who isn't"

"Look all I'm trying to do is care about you"

Alexandra scoffs, seeing right through his schemes. "Care? Since when did you care?"

Bernard opens his mouth to say something but on second thought pushes it aside.

"I thought as much. You've never cared, so please drop the act, it doesn't suit you"

"What?" Bewildered Bernard gawks at her "You insolent girl, how dare you talk to your Alpha in such a manner?"

"Yes that's exactly who you are, my Alpha, and nothing else so if you feel the need to give me some word of advice, do it as an Alpha but never as a father because that title doesn't fit you"

"What?"

"No, it doesn't fit you and would never fit you. I brought Nathaniel to our clan so he could meet the Alpha, who happens to be my father but I wasn't asking for your opinion as to who becomes my Mate. That can not be decided by us at all"

"You've grown wings," Bernard scoffs. "Why? Is it because of him? Do you think just because you've found your mate, you're off the hook" He pokes her forehead and she steps back "Do you think your mate is better than me? Do you think his pack is better than our pack?" He yells the latter and Alexandra smirks

"What? Why are you smirking?"

Walking towards the seat, she plops down, closes her eyes, and inhales deeply the warm breeze as it sinks through her body.

"Isn't this a wonderful night?"

Bernard widens his eyes, certain she had lost it.

"Soon the winter breeze will begin to tug our scarf around our neck"

"And so?" Bernard states trying to figure out her point

"It hasn't even begun and yet you are fidgeting"

"Me? Fi...fidgeting... Ha! Have you lost your mind?"

"Of course not Father, how could I lose my mind against my great Alpha but is you I'm worried about, how will you cope?"

"Cope with what?"

"You as the great Alpha of the Guerrero pack suddenly scared of another Alpha, a younger Alpha of the Crimson pack"

"Do you have any idea what our pack members will say if word gets out that you are already trembling in your pants over Nathaniel's presence? They will ask you to step down as the Alpha, retire"

"Who... who will... who will demand such an absurd thing?"

"Our pack needs a strong Leader, a strong Alpha, someone with guts whose mere words send shivers down the member's spine and I hate to admit but you are no longer that man Father, you've grown old"

Bernard chuckles unbelievably, running his hand through his hair, strolls towards the mirror, and gazes down at the reflection of himself, seeing a gray hair shooting out cuts it off causing Alexandra to smile sinisterly, rolling her eyes.

"I'm still young and capable, do you know how many Alphas from other packs envy my status and strength"

"What status?" She raises her brow, daring him to continue.

"Do you know how many times I have led our pack to war and won? Some Alphas would run but I stood firmly as a rock because I put the need of my pack ahead of mine"

"Hypocrite" she mumbles

"What did you say?"

"I said that You are right Father, however, this matter shouldn't be of concern to

you. Nathaniel is my mate so do not cross the line"

"Cross the line, what is giving you this boldness?"

Alexandra smiles. "Boldness" she stands up chuckling. "You taught me that an Alpha doesn't need to be intimidated by another Alpha come what may"

"So in essence, you are using what I taught you against me"

"Call it whatever you want Father but do not talk to me about Nathaniel, if anything is to happen, I will let you know but aside from that, stay within your limits" she walks towards the switch "The night may be young but sleep calls and for that, I wish to retire to bed so if you don't mind, can you leave?"

Hearing that Bernard's jaw dropped, that felt like a blow to his face, he had never seen this side of her. "Are you throwing me out of your room?"

"Of course not, how could I throw my Father, the Alpha of Guerrero pack out of the room" she states, sarcastically. "I'm merely pleading that you let this young wolf retire early to bed for she had a long day and would rise before the dawn of the day to tidy her chores so she needs her rest"

Bernard clears his throat, hearing those words, his arrogance floods the room.

"Of course, you may rest" He walks away, and as he walks past Alexandra, she smiles widely till he leaves the room, shutting the door.noveldrama

The smile quickly fades away from her face, turning off the lights, clenches her jaw tightly, and begins to flip the switch on and off with a lot of things running through her mind
