Chapter 85
Chapter 85 | Can Still Be Romantic!
Baz slapped himself on the forehead. “Right! She could have killed herself three years ago. Unless, of course, she was murdered! Who could have wanted her dead?”
“To frame her,” Cedric drawled.
Baz could finally see the bigger picture. “I heard that Ms. Maia was trying to recover the surveillance footage of her mother’s death. The culprit must have heard about this. So, they needed a scapegoat to cover their tracks, and Yvette was the best candidate!”
Since Yvette used to be Homer's mistress, it was easy to paint her as the villain.
“First, it was Hope and Yvette’s accident. Then, Theo attacked Ms. Maia, and Yvette committed suicide. Everything happened in a single day, and this indirectly created chaos.
“Furthermore, Yvette did have a reason to kill Rosa Burgess. No one would’ve been able to notice that she was a distraction!” “As long as the culprit is afraid, they will make a mistake eventually,” Cedric smirked.
Baz nodded. The truth would be exposed. It’s just a matter of time.
“The sooner we find out who's behind this, the better it is!” Cedric was worried about Maia.
This culprit was hiding in the shadows. If Maia found out about the truth behind Yvette’s death, she would only continue to dig deeper. The closer she got to the truth, the more dangerous it would be.
Baz nodded. Then he took out a photograph and handed it to Cedric.
“Mr. Larkin, this was taken when you were at the beach with Ms. Maia. The paparazzi who took this photograph sold it toa magazine. The person in charge contacted us. How would you like us to settle this?”
Without Cedric’s permission, they would not dare expose his privacy. Cedric observed the photograph handed to him.
The beautiful sunlight in the background gave the picture a romantic atmosphere. The main characters in the photos were blurry, as the one who took them was afraid to move closer.
As Cedric continued to observe the photograph, his expression softened. Baz could not help. but remind him, “Mr. Larkin, we should stop the magazine from publishing this, or else the public would know about Ms. Maia and you.”
“No. Let them publish it, | want everyone to know that she is mine.”
Baz nodded in realization-this was Cedric’s way of announcing to the world that Ms. Maia was taken! 4
Soon after, this photo of them watching the sunrise went viral and made headlines.
“Wow, they watch the sunrise together after having a divorce?”
“Cedric Larkin once took Maia Burgess away at a press conference, and now they’re watching the sunrise together? I’m sure they're going to get back together!”
“This is such a juicy piece of gossip! It’s like watching a movie! Anyone care to explain what this situation is about?” Maia’s phone kept ringing as she struggled to open her eyes. She reached for her phone and
hit the receive button in a daze.
“Who is it?” she asked sleepily.
Ms. Maia, have you seen the news? You should check it as soon as possible!”
“What news?” Maia was still half asleep.
Her mind was not in a state to process any information given. She just wanted to go back to sleep. “The news about you and Mr. Larkin watching the sunrise together!”
“Sunrise?” A few seconds later, Maia was wide awake. “What do
you

“It's all over the internet. You should check for yourself!”
When Mala opened Twitter, her inbox was flooded with notifications and messages. There were messages from the PR team, her secretary, and even Nigel and Aiken. She also had numerous missed calls, about half from Buck.
News about her and Cedric watching the sunrise kept popping up as netizens commented on the post. “Look at how much they love each other. They’re even watching the sunrise together!”
“Watching the sunset with your ex-wife? Mr. Larkin can still be romantic after a divorce!”
“Maybe they’re planning to get back together?”
“Hello? Ms. Maia, are you still there?”
Maia hung up and called Cedric immediately.
The minute he answered the phone, Maia started yelling, “It was you,
wasn't it?”
“Yeah?” The person on the other side drawled.
“The moment | saw those photos, | knew it was you!” Maia accused.

She, more than anyone, knew Cedric’s influence. Who would dare spread gossip about him if he disapproved? Now, the internet was going wild. It was his doing!
“| think the photos look good,” Cedric said approvingly.
“Excuse ne?”
“| think something this good should always be shared.”
“Cedric, you ass! Can you be any more shameless?”
“If | had to choose between my reputation or my wife, I’d always choose the latter.” “Really? With the stunts you're pulling, I’m sure you won't have one!” Maia retorted crudely. “I will make it work.”
Maia could tell from his tone that he was determined to make her return. She hung up, frustrated.
‘He’s such a shameless prick! | told him | was not interested, but he wouldn't leave! What is the bastard trying to do? We’re already divorced!*
As Maia continued to check the comments, her blood boiled. Suddenly, she came across one comment that made her freeze.
