Chapter 231
If Shirley knew things would come to this, she would've eliminated Clara once and for all. That way, no one would get in their way.
Ivy's expression turned dark. She narrowed her eyes viciously, saying, "It's not too late to get rid of her."
Shirley shuddered when she met Ivy's gaze, as a chill ran down her spine.
...
"How is it going? Any news?" asked Wren.
John looked at Wren cautiously, shaking his head. "Sorry, Mr. Zachman. I've sent people to look into it.
"You know how limited surveillance cameras are in such a small place. Besides, barely anyone walks past that street at night.
"We found no witnesses at all. It's really difficult to uncover any clues."
John was not making up excuses. It was indeed an impossible mission.
Wren was not disappointed to hear such an answer because he had expected it. It was just that he could not bear to leave Clara's side as long as the problem wasn't resolved.
"Continue to have people working on this and keep me updated. Once this is resolved, I'll let your son work in Zachman Group when he graduates next year," Wren announced.
John was elated. After all, it was the renowned Zachman Group, a company where only the cream of the crop could enter.
The salary and benefits were the least of John's concerns. Working for Zachman Group alone was already a valuable point for his son's résumé.
Even if his son left Zachman Group in the future, it would make things easier for him to get a job in other major firms. The promise was more tempting than the reward Wren had offered.
Just like every father, John cared for his son's future. He immediately promised, "I will do my best to look into this.
"Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on Ms. Salford. No matter what happens, I'll let you know right away. I promise Ms. Salford will be safe."
Feeling more at ease, Wren nodded and got out of the car with his things. He walked along a familiar route and made his way to the ward.

Clara was leaning against the bed, browsing through the teaching materials to prepare for her lesson. When she heard someone entering the ward, she looked up. noveldrama
Realizing it was Wren, she lowered her head and continued what she was doing.
Wren relaxed his brows, and his heart sank.
The situation was good enough, even though things could not return to what they were. He was satisfied as long as Clara was still there.
"Why don't you eat something first?" He walked over and cleaned up her table.
As Clara watched him tidy the things, she asked, "I'm feeling better. When are you going back?"
In the middle of taking out a thermos, Wren froze. Suddenly, he felt a discomfort in his throat. Unable to suppress it, he covered his mouth and coughed.
Wren had been suffering from a fever ever since he got into the water the other day.
A complex emotion flickered in Clara's eyes when she saw his face had turned red from coughing. She knew it was Wren who jumped into the water to save her. She also knew he had watched over her in wet clothes for a long time and had been suffering from a fever ever since.
Clara was not oblivious to his concern and desire for forgiveness. However, she
could not go back to how they were.
Turning her face, she said flatly, "The
doctor says you need to get more rest and stay warm to recover faster. Otherwise, there'll be long-term side effects."
Wren's eyes lit up, and he turned around to look at Clara. The longing in his eyes was plain.
Suppressing the discomfort, he forced a smile and said, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
Suddenly, Clara turned to look at him calmly. "Wren, I don't want to owe you anything."
What do you think?
