Chapter 2538
Inside Hydra Hill, Casimir sat in the great hall, visibly angry.
The disciples stood in the courtyard, some at a loss while others still wore expressions of sorrow.
At that moment, Casimir's disciples emerged from the building.
The oldest disciple and also Casimir's senior disciple, Oakley, took out a magical artifact.
"Fellow disciples, I'll use this artifact to perform a truth test on all of you, so please cooperate."
The Truth Pearl was typically used for interrogation and gathering information. It was seldom employed in recent times since Hydra Hill was much more peaceful than before.
The use of this artifact indicated the severity of the situation.
Casimir had previously warned all his disciples.noveldrama
"Based on the remaining evidence at the scene, the killer did not run far and is likely still on the mountain."
Indeed, a murderer was within their ranks, and yet Casimir remained oblivious. Clearly, that individual's strength and methods were extraordinary. Perhaps even the Truth Pearl would not reveal much.
Still, Casimir decided to give it a try, firmly believing the killer was still on the mountain.
The residual traces of true energy were strange, and there were no signs of damage to the barrier below.
Thus, the killer was likely someone from within Hydra Hill.
Oakley performed a truth test on all the disciples, as well as on Nash and Clint.
As expected, the Truth Pearl showed almost no abnormalities.
Casimir might have anticipated this outcome. He stood up and walked into the courtyard, while Oakley presented the pearl before Casimir.
"Father, all tests are complete... No one lied. They-"
"I understand," Casimir calmly addressed the gathered disciples.
Then, he said, "It seems that person has already left the mountain. All of you present must remember what I'm about to say."
Casimir set down some rules for his disciples, including not wandering alone at night and sending Oakley and other capable individuals down the mountain to search for the killer.
Casimir's face still bore a look of anger.
Nash simply stood nearby, contemplating. "Impressive. Every instruction serves to confuse the true killer and lower his guard. But is it just me, or is there something strange about Casimir's anger? It seems almost feigned, yet it's so convincing that it feels odd...
"This incident is undoubtedly serious and infuriating, yet a person like Casimir, who typically shows no emotion, is putting on such a display. Is it meant to deceive the killer?"
Afterward, Casimir shared some encouraging words with his disciples. The disciples merely gritted their teeth in anger at the killer.
Soon, they dispersed.
Casimir returned to the inner courtyard with Nash, Clint, and others.
After they settled down, Casimir hung his head, looking somewhat dejected.
At that moment, Nash clasped his hands together and said, "Master Hay, if there's anything we can do to help, we'll do our utmost."
"That's right!" Clint added. "How about I use the Art of Divination to predict the killer's whereabouts? We must avenge that young lad!"
However, Casimir waved his hand. "Thank you both for your goodwill, but this is an internal matter for us at Hydra Hill. We should handle it ourselves."
What do you think?
