My Substitute CEO Bride

Chapter 2539

Nash looked at Casimir with a suspicious expression upon hearing his words.

At that moment, Clint spoke up, "Master Hay, this isn't acceptable! Besides, you mentioned that we're connected to Hydra Hill, so there's no need to keep things distant."

Nash, however, stopped Clint by placing a hand on his shoulder and pushing him down slightly.

"Clint, calm down. Master Hay has his own considerations."

"But..."

Nash then addressed Casimir, "It seems you know something. Of course, if you don't wish to share, we won't press. We know the killer is still on the mountain, and that person's methods are quite sophisticated. Even the Truth Pearl couldn't affect him. So, what will our strategy be moving forward?"

Casimir picked up a cup of tea beside him and took a few sips.

"In this world, there are always things one can't escape from. This is what we call fate."

Casimir stood up and walked to the door, closing it behind him.

The room darkened considerably, with only a few weak lights coming through the

door and windows, leaving the interior shrouded in near darkness.

Casimir turned to them and said, "Gentlemen, I'll take you to a place."

...

Aurora sat dazedly at the entrance.

She looked somewhat confusedly at her surroundings, specifically at Linden's usual spot.

Every afternoon, after sweeping the ground and fetching water, Linden would close his eyes and sit quietly there.

Aurora would quietly watch him during those moments.

With the sunlight falling on the young man's face, he looked mesmerizing to behold.

Linden's features were sharp. With the sunlight casting shadows, he looked like an animated hero breaking through a dimensional barrier.

Aurora loved gazing into Linden's eyes, which always seemed to reflect deep thoughts. They were sparkling and profound.

Yet, just the one word 'gentle- hardly sufficed to describe Linden.

In Aurora's eyes, he understood many things deeply. Whether it was cultivation or

life, he had his own beliefs, including... his relationship with her.

Linden was impressive and emotionally intelligent. He always maintained a

certain distance from her. Aurora could see through his thoughts.

However, it was this very distance that made her even more fascinated.

Several times, Aurora wanted to reach out and take Linden's hand.

The gap between them seemed to be no more than a hand's breadth, yet she could never grasp it. Now?

Aurora looked at the mark on her hand.

It was a signal left by the use of the talisman she gave him. Aurora knew that Linden's use of the talisman indicated danger. Each time a talisman was used, her hand would bear a mark.

This allowed her to act quickly to save Linden.

Thinking of this, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. "It's all my fault..."

She could not escape her feelings of guilt.

Indeed, if she had noticed sooner, she might have been able to save Linden. But fundamentally, it was not her fault.

Meanwhile, Whistler stood behind Aurora.

Casimir had asked Whistler to keep an eye on her, fearing she might take things too hard.

"How long are you going to stay lost in thought?" Whistler asked coldly.

Aurora did not respond. Although her back was to Whistler, he could clearly sense how hard she was crying.

Whistler was not great at comforting others, so he tried to motivate her in his own way.

"Aurora, crying alone won't solve the problem."noveldrama
